Aaron Golbert was born on Long Island, NY in 1974. When i was 19 years old, i hitchhiked from New York to Alaska, and realized that i did not fit into the conventional framework of society. In 1997 i graduated from Ithaca College with a Bacherlor's Degree in Documentary Filmmaking. That summer i was introduced to lampworking borosilicate glass, and after a few months diligently practicing on the torch i quit my job at a restaurant and began making pendants, marbles and pipes for a living. At the end of 1997 i moved to Seattle, Washington to work with a collective of underground glass artists who were pioneering new techniques in borosilicate glass through the form of the pipe, and became immersed in the growing subculture. In 2003 i was invited to be a part of the first ever gallery showing of glass pipes in San Francisco called "Headpiece".
